Review: C-Bear Ceramic Bottom Bracket

We’ve always been interested to test out C-Bears range of Ceramic Bearings, and when some new test frames arrived which featured a BB30 bottom bracket we needed a way to mount our GXP chainset…

This is where C-Bears convenient step down BB adaptor comes into its own. Rather than having to buy a completely new chainset, as well as a BB30 bottom bracket, C-Bears extensive range of bottom brackets also accommodate a range of different combinations, allowing us to fit GXP cranks in a BB30 frame.

The striking green colour goes really well with our paint job!

The C-Bear website also features extensive tables and documentation which allows you to make sure that you order exactly the right part for your certain frame / crank combination.

Not only did the C-Bear BB save us significant time, money and effort allowing us to use our existing cranks, it also brings a performance benefit too, with the ceramic bearings providing less friction and increased durability compared to a standard bottom bracket. This was notable immediately when spinning the cranks and after a few muddy rides the cranks were still spinning nice and freely.

C-Bears moto of ‘silent speed performance’ is clearly evident with their products, and we experienced a creak-free ride with our BB30, something that not all bottom brackets are able to offer, and with Marlux Bingoal (now PauweslSauzen Bingoal) having used C-Bear products over the last few seasons and most recently Victor Campenaerts of Lotto Soudal rode C-Bear to victory in the hour record, it is clear that their are certainly some performance benefits to be had too!
